“…has that 1950's rock and roll style." - Stephanie Skenderis (CBC Radio One)
MICKEY MOONE THE EXILE OF SKELETON LAKE
Through the river of bones across the black waters of Skeleton Lake, on an island unmarked by any map; there is Mickey Moone - a one man band, folk-punk whirlwind. Laying down licks on strings forged from the metal of meteorites, beside a still that burns impossible purples and greens. Echoing across the water he hammers on drums with bones, they say came from beneath the lake itself. Mickey Moone the exile of Skeleton Lake has forged a sound that defines him: The one man lightning storm of punk rock! Fusing heartbreak, humor and 1950s shimmer into anthems that make you want to stomp your boots and raise a glass.
Heavily influenced by classic rock, first wave punk and country roots. The spectacle that must be seen to believe gives new meaning to the term DIY as he simultaneously plays drums and guitar while singing. Born a first generation Canadian, in an American/Italian family, the passion for creative expression was absorbed daily. From the accordion squeezing tarantella sessions, to the snake handling hoedowns in Appalachia country.
Mickey Moone is actively touring Ontario and beyond while promoting his newest full length Reptilian Warlock available on cassette, C.D. and vinyl. His videos win awards, his singles ripple across Canada, and yet the legend persists that he is merely the messenger that Skeleton Lake is the true composer, whispering melodies through the trees.
